About the Singer
Soprano, Alyssa Hensel experience ranges from opera, musical theater, recitals, concerts, and masses. Her previous 2017 performances include: Eliza (Dark Sisters) and Louisa Berry (A Letter to Vanguard, new commission). Other memorable performances include: Miss Pinkerton (The Old Maid and the Thief), Marzelline (Fidelio), Donna Elvira, cover (Don Giovanni), Suor Dolcina (Suor Angelica), Sandmann (Hänsel und Gretel), Sprite (Cendrillon), and Miriam (Come to the Well, new work), Elsa Schraeder (Sound of Music). Ms. Hensel has also worked with Boston Opera Collaborative (Idomeneo) and Odessy Opera (Dimitrij). She looks forward to working with both companies again for their 2017-2018 seasons.
As a soloist, Ms. Hensel has performed Faure’s La bonne chanson with string quartet & piano, a world premiere of gemutlich by Daniel Choi, Jake Heggie’s Songs and Sonnets to Ophelia at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Soundbites Series performing, and soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, under the baton of Philip Highfill.
Ms. Hensel attended Oberlin Conservatory of Music (B.M. ‘14, Voice) and recently graduated from The Boston Conservatory (M.M. ‘17, Voice).
